To register for a workshop, call (619) 297-4110 or fax (619) 297-9897.Special guest workshops require payment in full at time of registration. There is NO REFUND for special guest workshops except for workshops canceled by the Shepherdess. Regular workshops require payment in full to guarantee your space. Payment minus a five dollar fee is refundable up to one week before class. Transfer in regular workshops up to one week only. Transfer fee is five dollars. A full refund is given promptly on all workshops canceled by The Shepherdess.

Easy Collage Pendants -- Amy Meade
Sat. Sep. 18, 10:30 am to 3:30 pm

Patera is a Latin noun, meaning ornamental element. Join us for a fun day of creating unique and personal collage jewelry using the new Patera collage frames and elements. The first half of class will be spent auditioning collage elements and arranging them in the frames. When the artwork is ready, it will be sealed into the frame with high quality artists resin for a permanent finish. The second half of class will be spent assembling the pendants into necklaces or bracelets using basic wirewrapping and assembly techniques.

Collage pictures: bring images to fit in collage frames. Images can be cut from books and magazines, downloaded from the internet and printed out, hand-drawn, photographs, etc. Size your images for collage frame dimensions: inch square/circle, 1 square/circle, and a heart shape approx. 1.5 high x 1 wide. Teacher will have some images available for student use.

Fold Form Pendant -- Cooky Schock

Add another dimension to your metal art using the fast, serendipitous technique of fold forming. The folds add depth and texture, and the surface will be further embellished with wire stitching and a cold joined bezel set stone. Wear your new piece out the door! All work is done with very basic tools.

Kit Includes: Copper sheet, sterling silver wire for bale, brass and copper wire for stitching, sterling silver bezel cup, stone, sandpaper, mat, and ear plugs.

Hollow Constructed Forms in Silver -- Deanna Jacobsen
Sat. Sep. 25, 10:30 am to 4:30 pm

Create almost any form using three pieces of silver to make it hollow. The side is cut and formed first and then soldered to sheet silver on both sides. You will decorate your form by stamping, hammering, soldering on pieces of silver and putting a patina on it. Use your skills of sawing, soldering, filing, sanding and finishing. Your hollow form looks great on a chain as a necklace or make a bunch of them for a charm bracelet. This class is for the intermediate silversmith.

Treasured Charm Bracelet -- Robin Dudley-Howes
Sun. Sep. 26, 10:00 am to 5:00 pm

Take a hand full of mixed media and learn how to solder, drill and punch it! Robin will teach you how to make this stunning show stopper of a charm bracelet with techniques such as hammering words onto metal, soldering, punching and drilling holes into coins, dice, plastic and metal as well as cutting metal shapes and basic wire wrapping. This is a process-oriented class…. in other words depending on your level of knowledge you may or may not finish it completely. Most students are able to finish their bracelet and take home a pocket full of techniques!

Teacher will furnish: soldering equipment and supplies (bring yours if you have it), metal to make charms, metal stamps, punches, drill, hammers, metal shears, paint, glue, steel bench block, clamps

Kits contain everything needed (except equipment) to make the bracelet as listed below.

Supplies:

Mixture of old and new pieces for charms like: dice, buttons, chunky beads (not seed beads), 5 head pins, a couple bead caps, dominoe, key, rhinestone charm, coins, game pieces. bottle cap, flatback marbles, old ruler, copper nails, eyelets

Wire: I used several types in gauges ranging from 19-24 such as galvanized steel and annealed steel which can be purchased at a hardware store, sterling silver, copper, bronze, brass.

Chain bracelet to add your charms

Equipment:

Jewelers pliers (wire cutters, round nose, chain nose and flat nose).

Please bring your soldering equipment if you have it. I will bring mine for the class to use as well.

Optional: steel bench block, hammers: chasing, brass head mallet and plastic head mallet, clamps
